I’m a Fisherman at Heart

Over 30 years ago, I came to Zihuatanejo on a fishing trip—and never looked back. I fell in love with the area’s beauty, tranquility, and spirit. Today, I visit at least once a month, and every time feels like coming home.

My villas are truly labors of love, crafted with care and pride to offer unforgettable experiences not just for me and my family, but for every guest who stays. My goal has always been simple: to recreate the luxury vacation experience I cherish, from beautifully designed accommodations to perfectly executed meals.

 

Why This Property?

Villa Bahia was my first creation, and the beginning of something special. I met the talented architect Enrique Zozaya, and together we began what became a long-standing friendship and a journey of design, creativity, and craftsmanship.

 

Some thought we were crazy to build a villa "in the middle of nowhere." But we saw potential. Over time, the area has grown, and today I’m fortunate to have a few neighbors. As Villa Bahia came to life, we also began work on Villa Encantada, a project that took over two years to complete—and the result is nothing short of a masterpiece.

 

Every inch of the villas is thoughtfully designed, from the inlays of petrified wood and stone in raw marble, to handmade terracotta tile flooring, hand-forged wooden doors, and even a dining table made from a Spanish castle door. Each item was hand-selected for its unique character, creating not just a home—but a piece of art.

 

It’s All in the Details

Not a single detail was overlooked. Designs were sketched on napkins and scraps of paper, sometimes in the moment. We used dynamite to shape the land, rebuilt staircases that didn’t “feel right,” and reworked concrete platforms to ensure every room could accommodate a king-sized bed. We adapted to challenges, from material shortages to evolving ideas, and in the end, we created two villas that are works of art in their own right—spaces that breathe with the land and reflect its natural beauty.

The breezes through the villas, the majestic views, and the peaceful ambiance made me want to share this experience with others. When I opened Villa Bahia for rentals in 1999, people thought I was crazy. Back then, luxury properties with full-time staff weren’t rented out. But I believed in something different: a first-class vacation experience where guests could truly relax while being cared for by a dedicated, professional hospitality team.
