Bandido’s De Zihua: Once a Favorite, But Now Inconsistent at Best

We always want to share the best of Zihuatanejo with our Pacific Vacation guests—and part of that means being honest about places that just aren’t what they used to be. For us, Bandido’s De Zihua is one of those places.
This restaurant used to be a go-to for us and many of our guests. The energy was great, the food was reliably good, and the location in Centro made it an easy dinner stop while walking around town. But after a change in ownership, we've noticed a real shift—and unfortunately, not for the better.
Why It’s No Longer a Top Pick
Over our last few visits, the food has been poorly prepared, and the menu feels confused—like it’s trying to offer everything to everyone, but not executing any one thing particularly well.
Even the burgers, which used to be a reliable order, have become a letdown. The buns are huge, the patties are small, and the balance is just... off. When we ordered a burger, the side of wedges felt heavy and under-seasoned—yet strangely, the french fries ordered as an appetizer were perfect: thin, crisp, and exactly how you’d want them.
Inconsistency makes us hesitate to recommend Bandido’s anymore.
What Still Works
The drinks. The cocktails and micheladas are still solid, and the bar service is friendly. If you’re just stopping in for a drink, you’ll likely still enjoy the atmosphere.
The location. Right in the heart of Centro Zihua, it’s an easy walk from anywhere downtown and has good street-side seating for people-watching.
Distance from Pacific Vacation
Just a 10-minute drive or short taxi ride from the villas. Located on Calle 5 de Mayo, it’s walkable from the Malecón and other downtown shops and restaurants.

Final Thoughts
We truly wish Bandido’s could return to what it once was. It has the bones of a great spot—location, live music, a lively vibe—but right now, there are better, more consistent places to eat in the same area.
If you want help finding a reliable burger, seafood plate, or rooftop dinner nearby, we’ve got plenty of better options just around the corner. Let us know—we’re always happy to steer you to a great meal in Zihua.
